So we migrated our on-prem server to 3CX hosted and are getting the message: "A system service is down which affects telephony.". Used the 3CX migration tool in the portal with a backup from a little while ago. Migration seems to have worked properly and i can login and everything looks fine. The server we migrated from is shutdown and powered off. Tried restarting services from the portal options and tried rebooting. Phones are down. Trunk just bounces "ABC Company phones are having problems" message. Is there something i need to do with the licensing for the old server or something? Like de-activate it?

I figured just shutting it off would be efficient enough.

Hi @plazticks ,

It seems that all services are running now. Can you please check and tell us if you get the same error?
In management console you see any service down?

It does look like the error has now gone away. Nice. However our lines are down still. (just goes to busy signal). Not sure why, trying to figure it out.

Ok so the "Allow inbound" and "Allow outbound" checkboxes were unchecked during the migration. Turning those back on brought the trunk back up. Weird. All appears to be working now.

Hi @plazticks,

This might be because you have restored from backup and the configuration of the Public IP was changed. Also, please bear in mind that restoring from backup might take longer even if Management Console GUI is back to an available state.

Ok. It does appear to be working now. Sorry for the panic. Need to make sure our phones work in the morning! Thank you for your response.

@plazticks ensure that you are using a Supported SIP Trunk for 3CX Hosting ( https://www.3cx.com/partners/sip-trunks/ ) which requires to be Registration Based and your Provider does not lock the Public ip of the PBX.
If not, then you need to call them and give them your new Public IP Address where you can see it on the Dashboard of the Management Console, right side.

Ya. We actually use Skyetel which technically isn't "Supported" and is IP Based. However from this post here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-hosting-skyetel.82835/post-384648 ("The template for Skyetel will not be available in the hosted by 3CX solution however if you restore your backup the trunk settings will be restores as they are without the need for re-configuring the trunk.")

So i get it. Technically it's "not supported" but it should work if we restored from a backup, since the settings just come with it. Which it does appear to be working as intended. I guess i had 2 issues. 1 just that weird service failure error and 2 the SIP Allow inbound and outbound check-boxes becoming unchecked.

I really didn't want to change my SIP Provider since we have always used them with 3CX on our own hosted server without issue. I did see however that they will be supported officially pretty soon, so that's good, i think.

It all does seem to be working properly with Skyetel without me having to change anything in 3CX Authentication. Still just says Type: "Do not require - IP Based".

Do you think something will break in the future, especially when they actually do become supported, since Skyetel is not "Officially" supported yet? I really don't want to switch my trunk carrier just because we switched hosts. If there are any serious issues let me know.

Thanks.

Hi there,

We do understand your concern, but since the SIP provider is not yet supported we cannot guarantee that there will be no issues.

For example, in case there is an incident, and your 3CX system has to be migrated to another machine, most probably the IP address of the new machine will change to a new one. Thus, after this your SIP Trunk will stop working as your SIP Trunk Provider has locked the IP address of your old 3CX system.

Now in case the SIP provider becomes supported, there would be no such issues as this will be tested by our Interop Team.

Wait a moment here. I just found this. Does this mean they are actually supported!?

“Skyetel is proud to be a preferred SIP Trunk Provider for 3CX, and fully supported by 3CX Hosted.”

Well guess not. Registration just keeps failing. Looks like another restore and i'll just have to wait.

Skyetel currently is not officially supported for "Hosted by 3CX" installations, but we are working towards this with Skyetel.
For the time being, for help in getting Skyetel working on our hosting platform, you'll have to work with them directly.

Once we finish the interop work, then it will appear in the list of SIP Trunk providers supported on our hosting platform, and we will also provide a configuration guide and template that should make configuring it much easier.
