We have the only one reference for 3cx Failover Setup from here https://www.3cx.com/docs/failover/, can anyone clarify the points below related to the Passive Server, How that works.
- When installing a 3CX passive server, which installation type should we choose: "Create New Install and use Same License KEY" or "Restore an existing backup Config"?
- During the installation of 3CX, should we address our phones using a local IP or FQDN? Which option should we choose?
- How will the configuration or the same extensions & data be reflected from the active server to the passive server during installation or it will reflect after Restore from Active Server under Failover Tab?
- Many have advised against using Hyper-V because it may not detect the network adapter. Can anyone explain the exact reason for this issue or provide a solution for using Hyper-V as a failover setup?
- Some articles state that converting physical to virtual (P2V) does not work well. Could you explain what challenges this might present?
- Which backup location should be chosen on the passive server? Is it a different setup or it will be same under the Failover tab Restore option from Active Server?
- Will the passive server automatically use the same recording folder as the active server, or do we need to manually select a common or different location?
- If we choose a different location for the passive server's recordings, will these recordings still appear in the reporting system during the Failover Event?
- Under Backup file>DbTables>cl_Participants(Can anyone advice about this file what it contains to reduce the size of this file?)
Thanks
