Two things. First, I went to Pbxexpress to try to move a client's system from on premise to the cloud. There used to be an option on the Pbxexpress opening page to be able to do this. Now it doesn't exist.

Second, when I tried to self host in the cloud (I will be using an AWS instance), I cant get past Step 2 - Register your PBX. I fill in the data, press "Next" and the screen briefly shows "Please Wait," then that dissappears and I'm still on the same "Register your PBX" page. The wizard doesn't progress to the next step no matter what information i fill in the blanks.

Is it broken or did I do somethiong wrong?

We are seeing today some outages in the AWS API, they are not consistent for all customers but mainly located in some US regions. May try in one hour again and let us know.

The wizard doesn't even get to the AWS API, it doesnt progress past the registration page. I cant even register the client. The wizard wont let me get past the registration page.

From your customer portal locate the license in the keys section. Under more is “Self Host”. Can you confirm this is operational?

Went to your online chat which sent me to the basic page - https://www.3cx.com/phone-system/download-phone-system/ where I put in my email and got through the process of creating the system in my AWS Lightsail instance. The problem now is that in the past I used Pbxexpress to restore an on premise system backup to the new cloud based system. How do I do that without Pbxexpress?

@VoyantPhone now by the time you have created the PBX, yo can upload your backup to a public location like FTP, SFTP, Google Storage (Bucket) and then go on the PBX >> Backup and Restore >> Backup Location >> point it to that location and then when you see your backup, select it and restore it on top of your PBX.
If the backup has License key and FQDN included and you have installed the PBX with the same key, then it will just restore your configuration to your existing PBX.
If your backup does not have License Key and FQDN, then the same thing happen also.
Check and

Lightsail deployments are just showing 'YOUR PBX IS DELAYED' despite completing the install. It appears to cycle through multiple IP addresses also

@Chris Waldie , my colleague just run that thought for me and reported: " successfully installed on Lightsail using PBX Express from Customer Portal. 16.0.6.655 was installed "...

We get the same when deploying OVH.

I think you are missing the point. You can go through the basic 3cx portal, enter your name and email address, get it verified and then start the process and create a PBX - apparently through Pbxexpress. HOWEVER, somewhere in the process there used to be an option to move an on premise PBX to the new cloud-based PBX with a backup file from the on premise version. It's the on premise to cloud based restore that I am looking for. I guess i have to do it manually per @nicosT_3cx instructions.

We've tried multiple times. I can add servers to the Lightsail account manually but we cannot provision a new system to Lightsail.

I have also found the restore backup option appears to be missing. It does appear that you will need to deploy a new instance with the license then restore the backup.

All set. Had to do the restore manually per @nicosT_3cx instructions. I already have an FTP site so was able to backup the on premise version to it. Restored the on premise system to the self-hosted system and it seems to be working now. Thanks for all your help @nicosT_3cx.

It's a shame the restore backup option is no longer available. Doing it manually takes more time, and involves more steps and aggravation.
