Hi

With the SBC does the voice traffic travel through it, or does it just connect the phone to the 3CX server at a remote location then they talk to each other? For instance, if during a phone call the SBC computer shuts down or restarts would the phone call cut off, or is the phone connected straight to 3CX at that point?

Thanks

If the sbc is offline, all phones connected to it will go offline - you will not be able to make / receive calls and any existing calls will be cut off.

To confirm your question, the main benefit of the SBC is that voice traffic (endpoint to endpoint - same site) goes extension to extension and not back to the PBX, this helps solve latency and capacity issues.

Calls out via the trunk will obviously have to traverse the PBX.

Ok. That's great. Thank you for your help. :)

Sorry, one last question. Will phone calls between extensions still be recorded if I use the SBC and the 3CX server is up?

If you have call recording enabled (record all calls) on the extension(s) then yes.
