3CX SBC supports local survivability when 3CX @AWS cloud is down/not reachable/local internet id down.

Dear Team,

Customer has 3CX phones system @AWS Cloud and 3CX SBC @Branch office/On-premise. if 3CX @AWS cloud is down/branch office internet is down then 3CX SBC can manage the local extensions registrations and internal calls? Do we have solution for Local Surviability(extensions) when primary 3cx is down. Please advise.

You can setup with 3CX AI Edition an fail-over instance which will take over in this case.

Please note that the 3CX SBC does not provide local survivability.

The SBC provides a secure connection between the IP Phones at the remote location and the system. However, the extensions remain registered to and controlled by the system, and are not locally registered or managed by the SBC.

Therefore, if the system hosted in AWS becomes unavailable, or if the branch loses internet connectivity and the SBC can no longer reach the system, the SBC cannot take over call control or maintain internal calling between the extensions at that location since this is not it's purpose.

If redundancy is required in case the primary system becomes unavailable, you can consider configuring a Active/Passive Failover deployment. This provides a secondary server that monitors the active system and can take over if the primary system becomes unavailable.

Please note that this provides redundancy in case the primary system becomes unavailable. If the branch office itself completely loses internet connectivity, the SBC will still be unable to communicate with either the Active or Passive system and therefore cannot provide local extension survivability.
