I have SPA942 phones here connected to 3CX 9 on a trial license (not going to pay for a product that so far has not worked 100% up to the SPA9000 it would be replacing). I've looked all over for a fix to this and found nothing so far so my apologies if there are prior posts.

Basically my problem is that when an (any) SPA942 is on an existing call and another comes in, 3CX will not light up the second lamp to state there is a 2nd call coming in and give an option to put caller 1 on hold whilst picking up caller 2. I can however phone the said extensions internally from another 942 or 3CX softphone and see the 2nd lamp flashing and hear beeps in the earpeice.

The 942 I'm testing with has been fully provisioned from factory reset by the 3CX server with only a couple of mods like date display and ringtone. In the extension "forwarding rules" sheet I've clicked "I want to be able to accept more than 1 call at the same time" and the extensions were provisioned on the handset as they were when I had it up to the SPA9000 doing the same.

I wouldn't think it is a handset issue since this feature actually worked when it was running on the SPA9000. I will include a server log below of what happens. Ext10 is the desk phone and ext11 is the 3CX softphone. There is a ring group named ALL at 80 which is a "ring all" that ALL inbound calls via both VoIP and PSTN get routed to so that every phone rings simultaneously on an incoming call.

Please HELP.

Do you have at least two BLFs set to the same extension you want multiples to be accepted on?

I have 942s working correctly on 3CX V9 SP5a, firmware 7.4.6 completely provisioned by 3CX auto provisioning except for date format. One extension mapped to all BLFs as standard in 3CX templates.

Yeah all BLFs are mapped to ext1 which is the first thing I checked :) and is why I'm having issues working out what the issue is since everything appears right.

I have the same phones and I had to check the box "I want to be able to accept more than 1 call at the same time" on the call forwarding tab of the extension. That should allow you to see the second incoming call.

Extension > Forwarding Rules > Available > Phone is Busy > "I want to be able to accept more than 1 call at the same time"

Yes as I have already stated in the OP, I have already clicked this :). So I wish it was this simple lol.

Perhaps try reflashing the phones with a fresh download of 7.4.6 firmware and factory reset and reprovision again.

This should work exactly as you have set it up. It is the phone that is not handling the calls properly for some reason.

Ok where do you get that from? The highest Linksys have on their site is 6.1.5 which is what I have.

EDIT: Also if it is the phone then why can it support this functionality already with the SPA9000 and not the 3CX server?

Sorry getting my Cisco and Linksys crossed. 6.1.5 is correct from memory for the SPA942.

I know how that feels :).

So unfortunately so far nobody has been able to give me an option beyond the handset setup which is the same as it was overall with the SPA9000 (and had next incoming call indicator) and clicking the I want to accept more calls button in 3CX which is already selected.

Surely as usual with 3CX it would be something simple somewhere and since I can get the 2nd call indicator for internal calls ontop of an external it isn't the phone itself but rather something in the server. I'm just at a loss as to what and it is all that is holding me back from considering 3CX full time.

Hi,

As I understand, the question is how to receive multiple calls from a ringgroup.
If so, then you need to set ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTIONFORGROUP custom parameter to 1.
This functionality was discussed in the topic:
http://www.3cx.com/forums/ring-group-multiple-incomming-calls-14235.html

Thanks

Thankyou, fixed my issue instantly :). I might have to take a better look through the custom options later and see what else I can tweak.

Custom parameters are the kind of "grenade"...
Be careful :)

Apologies for the wild goose chase. I overlooked the bit about the ring group and was concentrating on the phone/extension.
