Solved 3CX STUN via LTE

Hello All,

I am trying to provision the Remote Extension via STUN. 3CX is on the Google Cloud.
My configuration is:
Fanvil X6
DrayTek Vigor2925 Series - All necessary ports have been forwarded, but please can you confirm, which has to be forwarded, to be on the safe place.
Huawei LTE USB Stick (E3372) - Connected to the DrayTek as an ISP to the WAN(USB) Port.

When I put the extension credentials to the Fanvil I am getting the message SIP Registration Failed.

Is that possible at all to use the STUN on the Cellular Network ?

I’m not sure where you are located but up in Canada most LTE connections the router doesn’t use an internet accessible ip. As such stun connected phones won’t work.

If you use a sbc device or sbc software it should be able to work.

I'm in France and that's the same 4G transmitters give you a non routable IP on your wan port and change very often, in that case the simplest way is to use SBC.
SBC works fine behind 4G wan connection.

When you setup the phone as per info https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-x3-x5/

These are the ports that need forwarding,




SIP ports are udp / tcp, where the others are udp

So in this example you need to port forward 5065 udp / tcp and 14000 to 14009 udp

As above, I doubt 4G will work, unless you have a specific data 4G sim which we can get in the UK

The ports are opened as usual per phone device as it appears in the phone provisioning section like the image posted above by Saqqara.

Also some good points made above, many LTE networks don't provide a direct IP to the internet like cable or DSL modems have, but rather there is some NAT between you and the internet by your provider. Indeed SBC might be able to help you traverse it (no guarantees as you do not control that part of the network). Some companies offer data connections with a static public IP (at a nominal fee) and I imagine in that case you will not have an issue.

Thank you so much, for your ideas, I have tried to use SBC and it works perfect on the 4G! Problem solved

I'm using permanent SBC connections with 4G routers on several installations with absolutelty no problems, very often with outside antennas i've got 100 Mb/s FD bandwith instead of poor DSL giving max 1 Mb/s in UL side.

The only limitation is if you want SSH, that 's not possible or only if you use windows SBC and have remote access with teamviewer
