3cx upgrade

Hi,
we have 3cx v15 with lot of CFD. Before we go live with version 16, I want to test version 16.
Because our PBX is running in a virtual VMware environment, I can create a clone of our PBX, disable the original PBX, and try to upgrade 3cx to v16 on the created clone.
If something goes wrong, can I shut down the clone and start the original PBX and everything will work?
Or will I have any problems for example with the license?

you can but your Key will up and downgrade in between.

Do you have a trial key? Those are for a period of time a pro-edition and you can create a testbench with it...
