Similar to https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-wants-old-firmware-for-t57w.88300/ we have a client with a relatively new phone from last fall where 3CX shows it as an even later version:

3CX wants to "upgrade" to "96.86.0.63 Yealink T57W FW: Maintenance release" but if I try, it doesn't downgrade. It's been a while so I don't recall if it does nothing, or does reboot but stays on the higher version.

It's working fine, so I was waiting for 3CX to "catch up" the version. But the above thread sounds like Yealink went backwards in their numbering? If so, way to go Yealink. Should we be manually installing the 96.x firmware on it? If so where is a download for .18 or .63? As noted in that other thread https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t5-series/ has the 97.x firmware linked.

/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Http/Interface/provisioning/*/firmware/ and firmware_new have the same four files:
-rw-r--r-- 1 phonesystem phonesystem 42373888 Nov 19 08:14 'T54W(T57W,T53W,T53,T53C,T54,T57)-96.86.0.23.rom'
-rw-r--r-- 1 phonesystem phonesystem 43069216 Nov 19 08:14 T5XW-96.86.0.45.rom
-rw-r--r-- 1 phonesystem phonesystem 43078560 Feb 22 12:14 T5XW-96.86.0.63.rom
-rw-r--r-- 1 phonesystem phonesystem 347008 Aug 16 2021 'patchT54W(T57W,T53W,T53,T53C,T54,T57)-96.86.0.23.rom'

I tried guessing the download URL from the client's 3CX server and got a blank page.

Thanks,

Yes, that is the thread I linked. :) It already closed so I started a new one since the firmware listed in 3CX didn't update on several previous attempts. That thread talked about manually updating so I was looking for the file.

I tried again going from 97.84.0.125 to the brand new 96.86.0.63 and it did indeed work this time.

Didn't even notice lol sorry!

You must be off with your first digit. With yealink phones the first digits (97 or 96) denote which model phone the firmware is for. The rest is the actual version of the firmware. So the 3CX firmware listed of x.86.0.63 is newer than x.84.0.125. But it didn’t work initially because you had firmware for a different model phone.

I understand why you'd think that but it came with the phone, and per the linked thread 3CX says Yealink went backwards with the first number. Good job Yealink.

My issue was it didn't work to "upgrade" through 3CX when I tried it in the past, but it does now.

Hi @SteveITS

Did they all manage to install the desired version in the end?

Hi John and Nick, it did indeed work to just normally upgrade the phone from the 3CX server. I had not tried it that recently...read the post, was a bit confused about manually downloading the old firmware file, and decided to try it one more time. So I don't know if something changed in the firmware or in 3CX but it did work. Just a bit confusing to "the public" who probably don't know 96 is later than 97. So in the end, I didn't need to post but it was good to work through it and get this one phone on an approved version.
Thanks,
