I've been testing the 3CX Windows Client. It turns out it installs as a MSIX to the user's local profile which is far from ideal for us.

Is there a way to get the Windows Client to install to the C drive of the machine rather than to the Local Profile of a user?

If this is an issue then just stick on a shortcut to the web client.

That is an option though having the app would be better, I can't imagine staff being happy if they accidentally close the browser and it kills the call.

They can use the PWA and it'll go to taskbar

Users will have to download the PWA each time as their local profiles are wiped when the user logs off the desktop which is just another step. Why oh why can't 3cx just deploy an app that will work as an EXE for all users?

You can use any softphone from a third party vendor if you prefer. As long as it uses SIP/RTP it will work with 3CX.

Think I have something that might work for us but requires the user to fire up either Edge or Chrome to get the PWA installed:

https://www.3cx.com/docs/pwa-terminal-server-deployment/.

In a fashion, we are running a network like a Terminal Server network where users pull down a mandatory profile.

If that is the casse then the user should be able to pull their profile and already be logged into the app when they log in.

Ah im not sure about being logged into the app straightaway because we've not enabled SSO. To be fair, we are talking about this being deployed out to a school so the solution with the PWA is probably the best of a bad situation, not all teachers want to be disturbed in their lesson whilst teaching a class.

The PWA will keep a session active and can be started immediately upon start up of the computer. So when they log in, it will be active.

It is and it's so simple for sure, but teachers will complain it's just another thing to enable or disable. I think the whole using a phone through a PC will blow their minds - even though we've been using Google meet since 2020 *rolls eyes*
