Easier provisioning, auto-answer and ringer device selection.

The provisioning of the Windows Softphone has been made even easier with the possibility for users to provision from the softphone itself. Simply download the latest version from the Microsoft Store, enter your existing credentials and login! The softphone is now con...

Hi, great update.

Will the M365 SSO option be changed to not require the web browser? Currently:

Open the 3CX App
Enter server address and hit the Microsoft button
The web browser opens to the login page
Hit the M365 button again
Hit the provision button
(Possibly choose the app to be passed back into)
You are now logged in

Ideally:
Open the 3CX App
Enter server address and hit the Microsoft button
You are now logged in

Hi ThomB, great update nice!

i am excited to listen for the next updates. nice to have is to change the ringtone and to have the chat back again.

regards

@SweetAction this will still require the web browser. What if the M365 account is not authenticated?

Hi,
in v20 webinars Marcos told us that "panel" will be reimplemented to the new softphone. Is there an ETA on this?
Great progress so far. Glad to have ringer setting back, and the new provisioning option is much easier.

Did anybody else notice audio qualitiy differences between electron desktop app + WebClient vs. V20 softphone?
Audio quality with the WebClient and the Electron Desktop app is much clearer for both, me and the callee. Did anybody else notice this?
We priorized HD codec G.722 in the list.
We did not analyze this deeper yet e.g. by wireshark trace or new quality monitor feature, first wanted to make sure that this is not a knwon issue

Furthermore callees often say that there is audio drop in outgoing direction (from me testing with v20 softphone to them). Audio-in to my direction works wihout issues. And no it´s NOT a network issue here, when I hang up and recall using desktop app, electron desktop app or webclient it works rock-solid as always.

Interesting protocols info @Nick Galea !
Could you please precise, does Windows softphone use plain SIP or SIP/TLS ?
Thank you very much !
Edit : well, it may certainly use the 5090 encrypted tunnel...

Yes good point over the public internet it will use 5090 and SIP/TLS depends what you have configured. The SIP engine behind the softphone is PJSIP

@CallingFromMars thanks for your feedback.
Issue will be addressed in the next release

@CallingFromMars from our investigation, we noticed an issue that could cause this particular scenario.
We had another issue in the past but was unrelated and fixed in Beta 5-6

I stand corrected... There was an indeed an issue with a particular setup. Thank you for reporting @CallingFromMars

Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been covered recently but I couldn't find anything specific at a glance...

M365 account sync and Windows app SSO would be a major improvement for us.

However, we run a single server (with SBCs) for multiple schools in our organisation, with a single M365 tenant. We have to have 'blocks' of extension numbers for each school for multiple reasons (not just vanity), most importantly because each school has it's own SIP trunk for billing purposes. Emergency services routing is critically required to be configured correctly, so each SIP trunk is set for each site as required. The extension range will route out across the correct SIP trunk (although users working in another school that call emergency services do have an issue, but this is the minority) to ensure billing and emergency service caller address and phone numbers are correct (regardless of the outbound caller ID, emergency services who need to return the call, will initially call back on the 'hidden' number as configured on the SIP trunk).

For this reason, I can't have 3CX auto-assigning extension numbers and further, with some system and manually created accounts, this could be an issue if were possible to set the required extension number in AD and then pull it in to 3CX in case of clashes. (Although, it's the lesser of two evils, if an admin doesn't check whether it's free first, then that's their fault).

Is there any way of improving this? We have 1000 staff across 8 sites that roam both internally on shared devices (as well as 1:1) and occasionally between schools, with a very small IT support team. I've scripted around this for domain joined Windows PCs with the legacy Windows client, but I need to have the least friction for the users without it becoming horrifically onerous for techs to assist them with configuring their client constantly.

Thanks :)

Hi.

If the Softphone gets also an CTI Function for TAPI and Deskphones, this would be great.

Hi,

is there also a way to provisioning the Windows client by another way for big environments? We have customers here in germany they has >= 200 user and the user are not allowed to have the webclient password.
Is there also a .msi file available that we can rollout?

regards

You can decode the QR code into a URL and call the app with that URL to provision it (that's how the webclient does it).

Hi SweetAction,

thanks! Can you tell me the syntax how to start the app with that provisioning url?

Hi.

You can Decode the QR-Code with an App like QR Debug.
