Hi, I’m posting on behalf of a customer of mine.

They frequently run conference calls in the following way:
  1. The agent (Party A) is on the phone with their client (Party B).
  2. Party B hears MoH, and the agent (Party A) calls the insurer (Party C).
  3. Only after that private conversation between agent (Party A) and insurer (Party C) are all three parties joined together (merge).
After upgrading from V18 to V20.0 Update 6 (Build 724 Release), we’re no longer able to make these easy 3-way conference calls.

The v16 Windows Softphone worked as expected with 3CX Server V18. With Server V20, however, when clicking the Conference button during a client call, it dials the new party (Party C) and immediately merges everyone together — without allowing a private conversation first. Is this no longer possible in V20?

We also tested other clients — v20 Windows Softphone, PWA (Chrome/Edge), and WebClient — all with the same behavior.

My question:
How can this be done in V20? Is there a workaround, or is this a bug? This seems like a very basic feature that was available in V18 but no longer works in V20.

Environment:
  • Server: Version 20.0 Update 6 (Build 724 Release)
  • Client: App for Windows 20.0.990.0
  • Client: App for Windows 16.3.0.264
  • Client: Chrome PWA
  • Client: Edge PWA

Thanks,
Miriam

Yeah, we are also missing this. Every other pbx I know let the host do a private conversation before joining the new persontto the meeting. Only 3CX directly joins everybody.
