Will there be a 64 bit beta version or will we have to wait for the full release?

Re: 64 bit beta?

Wasn't there a comment or part of the beta 1 release that said 64 bit is not available in the beta. Probably in the RC versions.

Re: 64 bit beta?

Yes, this release was not going to be 64 bit, but I was wondering if there was an intention of releasing a 64 bit version prior to full RC.

Some gotchas with going to full 64 bit and I would like to catch them before the RC if possible. Am running this version on a Win2k8R2 with no problems but still want to see how the 64 bit compares.

Re: 64 bit beta?

I am not understanding. Who said that 3CX cannot be installed on 64 bit? Any release we make can work on 64 bit systems. Actually we are testing 64 bit nearly only at the moment.

If the installer lets you install on 64 bit then you go ahead.

Actually it is recommended to install on a 64 bit machine other than a 32 bit.

If we do not ship a system that works on 64 bit we might as well close down the company and go home. You can't find a 32 bit laptop for purchase today let alone a server.

From where did you get this information? Or is it a misunderstanding between components being natively compiled for 64 bit?

Sorry for the confusion. I am running the beta on Win2kR2 under WOW64 but Kevin said that was going to be a native 64 bit version of 3cx for V10. I know that it has not been released yet and was wondering if there was going to be a beta version before the RC of the native 64 bit.

Re: 64 bit beta?

in the future yes - but no eta for this. We will advise when done.

We know with the performance improvements that can be achieved when we move components to native 64 bit. But this takes time and we are migrating one piece at a time.

This is a process that we are in no rush to do. Just to give you stats, 3CX Phone system.exe under wow with 256 sim calls and media server recording all the calls also under wow, will consume 5-10%CPU Usage and 50-100 megs of memory.

So there is no rush for us to have our system to work natively on 64 bit - this can take it's time.

What kevin mentioned to you was precisely this - we are going to have a 64 bit complete native architecture at some point and we started this in V10 with 3 components already - Call history service with also includes the Voicemail that are 64 bit native and the webserver configuration. For the time being we are stopping here. Especially until we finalize v10

Re: 64 bit beta?

Thanks for the update, especially the stats.

We will release a blog post on more detailed statistics soon on V10 and the tests we do inhouse + we also issue case studies of companies that moved or are saving huge costs with 3CX. Go to http://www.3cx.com/blog/

Also official support for new video phones and IP Security cameras is going to start being promoted heavily. this is what ppl want too.
