I have a 7960 driving me up the wall, I managed some time ago to fluke getting 4-6 extensions off a single proxy registration and cannot remember how. Now since a change of internal numbering scheme has been required.

So I've made 4 proxy registrations instead all to the same extension/user/auth number and for all calls in and internal calls out this seems to work fine (allowing me to switch between different calls from different sources like if I'm talking to party-A and party-B rings I can hold A and answer B then switch between as I like).

Now my issue is I cannot make external outbound calls. When the partners SPA942 rubbish dials out it dials xxxxxxxx@line interface:5060 however the 7960 dials [email protected] (server ip) and gets a "reorder" with a failed dial tone.

I assume it's something simple I've overlooked but be buggered if I can work out what.

Please help.

What does the 3CX log show for the call attempt? Does 3CX even get the call? If it does is it being blocked by a missing or incorrect outbound rule?

3CX as I said is seeing the phone.

My 942 has the following during a call...
08:40:35.046 [CM503008]: Call(87): Call is terminated
08:40:34.937 [CM503025]: Call(87): Calling VoIPline:^dialednumber^@(Ln.10005@^ITSP1^)@[Dev:sip:^myDID^@^ITSP1^:5060]

08:40:34.609 [CM503010]: Making route(s) to <sip:^dialednumber^@192.168.1.2>

My 7960 has...

08:38:29.125 [CM503020]: Normal call termination. Reason: Not found
08:38:29.125 [CM503016]: Call(84): Attempt to reach <sip:^dialednumber^@192.168.1.2> failed. Reason: Not Found

This would indicate that there is no match, in your outbound rules, for the number, that 3CX is receiving from the set. Compare your rules against the number sent (in the logs).

You would think that yet it was exactly the same number dialed on both phones with a very different outcome. The number in question I could dial a few days ago on the 7960 and I've not ammended any OB rules.

I appreciate the input so far though :).

Does the log reflect the same number that you are dialling on the set? Can you dial the same number (show up as the same number in the log) from a different set (3CX softphone?), and have the call complete properly? Do you have extension specific rules in place, in the outbound rules?

No extension specific OB rules other than the niece who has a set pre-dialcode. Yes the exact same number can be shown on the log failing on the 7960 and succeeding on the 942, will post in a minute.

From the Cisco phone...

I haven't used the 7960 so I can't comment on the provisioning or settings. If the call is reaching 3CX as it is then the "basics" are working properly. For one extension to send a number and have it fail (not find a route) and another send the same number and have it succeed, then I have to assume that it is something to do with the extension number, or group that it is assigned to,and the outbound rules. Just a guess, not having seen your outbound rules.

What you might try, since ext 11 seems to work, is assign that extension number to one of the 7960's. Just change the extension number and password manually if necessary. If the call goes through then you will have confirmed that is is a problem based on the extension number placing the call and not the set. Or, you can assign extension 21 to the SPA942 (maybe just to one key), and see if the call succeeds.

The only thing I'm a bit curious about, and probably unrelated...

Usually the DHCP server on small networks is handled by the router/Gateway, in your case 192.168.1.1. So the PC running 3CX is set up to do this?

Yes I was thinking of switching the extension temporarily to test that theory.

As for the IP's, .2 is the 2k3 server housing AD(PDC), DHCP, TFTP, DNS, 3CX, VENT, Printer Sharing etc etc and .1 is the smoothwall router.

I went with the 2k3 server as the dhcp since the router we had (that smoothwall replaced) would not resolve local machine names (eg. \\mediabox) for some stupid reason and so was easier to let the server run it all).

Appreciate the feedback :) and I think you now see why I'm stumped.... since the phone seems to be doing all it should.

Ok tested line1 as ext11 which is working and whoala.... so it is something in the extension settings I'm guessing somewhere, But I cannot find ANYTHING different except the obvious 11 vs 21.

Just found out, anything that has a 1x extension number is fine and working (even newly made extensions) but anything with 2x is failing. I was hoping to change the internal scheme to 2x or better yet 2xx to avoid the issue of dialplans confusing 12xxxx and 13xxxx with 1x internal.

So now I have have found the answer to my issue, my next question is, is there a way to change the internal numbering scheme to 2xx (eg. 201 202 etc) in 3CX?

Just creating the extensions does not seem to work (well allows rx of external and tx+rx of internal but no tx of external).

Ok now I feel like a complete idiot, just found my problem ... when the niece come to stay I set her to ext19 and locked all but her dial code to ext 10-18 only thus not allowing ext21 to dial.

So now I've changed the ENL to 3 and are in the process of setting everything to the 2xx standard and initial tests shows full success. So all I had to do in the 1st place was not overlook the extensions allowed setting in the OB rules :( lol.

So thank you for helping support a bloody fool.

You can set different (3CX soft phone?) Dial the same number (displayed in the same number of logs), and call correctly?
