When is 3cx going to address the 911 issue with using hot desking? We have several Hot Desk phones in different buildings with different users going between them daily or weekly. Currently 911 routing is only by extension, but it needs the option to be by phone. If we need to call 911 our employees have to use their cellphone because their extension could be logged into any address on any given day.

Can you check something for me? If you open the 3CX Management Console and navigate to a user extension and select IP Phone, if you are currently using a hot-desking phone, do you see the phone listed under Phones? If so, we can help you with our 3CX Emergency Notifier location service.

This service was created to track mobile users as they move from location to location. As you have noted, it is important to keep track of where an extension is located to ensure we send emergency responders to the correct location. Our service monitors where your phone is registered and will move the user to the correct 3CX emergency group based on their IP address location.

I will also mention that we can even do this for web client users even though these users always have a reported address of "localhost" (because it is a web application running on the 3CX server). We are able to identify the user's location through our desktop client:

In addition to displaying a desktop popup (and playing an alarm) when any user dials an emergency number, it also reports the user's laptop IP address. In the dialog above, if this was an actual emergency, the user's information, including their precise location, would display along with instructions regarding the actions to be taken.
