Hi, we have been testing 3CX in a variety of circumstances and have had one issue which I have been unable to solve.

We have 3CX setup on a remote server, we then use a IPSEC VPN to connect or office to the 3CX Server. The system has been working well. If the VPN drops its connection the phone will unregister as normal, then reconnect once the VPN connects again. We have found an issue when two extension are connected and the VPN Drops out, 3CX still shows the calls as active, once the VPN reconnects and the phones re-register, 3CX still sees the calls as active and does not seem to drop the call, this prevents the two extensions for receiveing any calls.

I have attempted restarting the phones and using PBX Delivers Audio on and off but with the same issue.

The phones are a combination of Polycom VVX600, VVX601, IP7000 and Yealink T46S. 3CX Version 16.0.910

If anyone has any solutions it would be appreciated.

Yes, as when both parties go down, the PBX does not know that the call is gone. You can enable session timers on the endpoints which will check/awaits sporadic updates to the call or will end it for you. Alternatively, you can use TCP for SIP on the IP Phones to have a consistent connection to the PBX which can help us to understand if the user is still there or not - in UDP there is no such thing.

Good news, there is a value called maxcallduration (parameter table) and if this is hit the call will be killed by the pbx regardless. If i am not mistaken it is 3h.

Thank you Stefan, I have attempted to use TCP but this didn't seem to make a difference.

Good news is we enabled accept multiple calls on the extensions which solves the issue of the handset being unavailable. Embarrassing simple fix really.

It would be nice if the phones were able to communicate back to 3CX to end any open calls upon reconnecting, but this will get us out of trouble for now.
