I was able to get my 3CX install working with Twilio for SMS, but we want to use it like a cell phone sms service where multiple people from the same PBX can contact the same number. Currently with my two test numbers, I have a conversation active with Test #1. As soon as I try to contact the same number with Test #2, I get the error "Number you specified has active conversation with extension <extension> already"

This is a pretty big limitation, and wouldn't allow our staff to contact the same customer separately, is there maybe a parameter that we can set to allow this functionality to happen? We hope to use 3CX as a method of providing a full service soft phone to avoid purchasing company cell phones

Thanks!

Hi!

Currently there are no plans to change this behavior. Once a 3CX User has sent a SMS to an External Number, we create a "conversation" in the background so that when the External Number responds, it will be routed back to that user.

Anyway, the only way to work around this is to instruct each user, after they send an SMS to immediately mark is as "Dealt with".

This is the main reason we wanted to use 3cx as your sales and onboarding teams said this was possible

Is there any update on this ?

No, the behavior is still the same with no plans of changing it.
@YiannisH_3CX , I see the same behavior in the other PBXs that support SMS too. I'm curious if there is a technical reason for that? Thanks in advance.

When a conversation is initiated with a number a connection is being established between that number and the extension handling the conversation. This is for the PBX to know where to route the replies and avoid mistakes. Once the conversation is Dealt with then a new connection can be formed between a new extension and the number.

Sorry for rehashing a older post but why couldnt there be a way to say have a group of users (like a shared mailbox) that can send out and all see the replies? To me i dont see why that would be a issue to implement? It would resolve this repeated issue for customers i would have thought?
