Good evening,

with 3CX standard, is it possible to allow extensions to be called 24/7 from other internal extensions but allow them to be reached only during business hours from the outside - but allow certain known external numbers to reach these extensions also 24/7? (These extensions are members of a ring group and are reached via DID on this ring group)

If yes - how has this to be configured? (Trunk, Ring Group, Extensions, etc)

I have searched quite a while and tried already some things - but without any success.

Thanks for any input in this regard.

With kind regards,

John

If these calls all come in on the same trunk group, you may look into using office hours to send all calls to a newly created dummy extension. In that extension settings you could then, selectively send, certain caller IDs off to a ring group, or other destination. The remaining calls would then be sent to, perhaps voicemail or an IVR, explaining your office hours.

Good morning @leejor,

I had a look into this. Maybe I don't fully understand what you say - but to explain the situation more precisely:

We have multiple internal ring groups. Each of these ring groups have a DID assigned so they can be called from the outside and will ring the relevant phones (in each of our office locations, there could be member phones participating in such a ring group).

If I understand it correctly, if I would set the forwarding on our SIP trunk to a "fake" extension, all calls (independent of the DID dialed from the outside) would end up on this on "fake" extension and we would completely lose the possibility to route calls according to the dialed DID, correct?

With kind regards,

John

Hello @johnranger2 !

First, when you create a DID for a ring group, it adds an inbound rule and in the rule you can put the hours you want for this number. Then you let users on Available and the will receive internal calls and external only during the desired hours.

For exceptions you can use "CID Rule" in Inbound Rules, just make some numbers exceptions if there is not a lot

Hi @INDY_Mathieu ,
thanks for your feedback. I will test this and feedback here.

I hope it will arrange things :) Let us know

Hi John

If I understood your request correctly, you can also potentially use a dummy extension that has exceptions as an option and route calls that way in conjunction with office hours.

Hi @INDY_Mathieu,

that has perfectly worked. Selected CIDs can pass through 24/7, Rest get blocked out of Office hours. Internal 24/7 calls I have not yet tested.

Thanks again,

John
