I went through the pain of setting up an Amazon Chime Voice Connector account as directed in the instructions given here. https://www.3cx.com/docs/amazon-chime-voice-connector-sip-trunk/
After successfully configuring the voice connector in the Chime Console, the instruction asks to configure the SIP trunk in 3CX. Unfortunately, Amazon Chime is not showing up as a SIP trunk provider in the US. What am I missing? Is a template available for import into 3CX to configure a SIP trunk using the Chime Voice Connector?

Are you running the latest version of 3CX?

Amazon Chrime is in the supported 3CX list, but when you go to add the sip template it does not exists

Yep, I don't see the template either so I'm guessing you'll have to manually configure it or wait for 3CX to release the template.

Update

If you update to the V16 7 Alpha version then the Chime Voice Connector is available and I was able to configure the SIP trunk without any problem. The call clarity with Amazon Chime is extremely good. Still playing around with the inbound and outbound rules before I port my DID # with Callcentric to Amazon.

I am not able to dial out using amazon chime voice connector. can you please send me an example of your outbound rule. I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I am getting this event error when I dial out:
Call or Registration to +16067893511@(Ln.10001@Amazon Chime Voice Connector) has failed. 3.80.16.113 replied: 400 Source number is not valid E.164 or anonymous value; from IP:3.80.16.113:5060

problem is fixed no need for response. Thank you anyway.

What was the solution?

Hello everyone!

The template for Amazon Chime will go online today (try in a few hours from now) so you should see it as an update. Just download it and the instructions will an just fall into place.

Yes, I figured out that the CID needed the +1 and outbound calls are working.

I have finally did it. You need to put the + in the outbound rules as well

However, on another note. For 911 service, what would be best here? You cannot simply tell a customer not to dial 911

Yes, outbound calls must be made in the E164 format as well. We will update the guide to reflect that. Regarding emergency calling the following is from Amazon's page:

" Amazon Chime does not offer emergency calling services. If you would like to contact emergency services in the U.S. with Amazon Chime, you must obtain an emergency call routing number from a third party emergency services provider and provide it to Amazon Chime. When you place a call to emergency services (e.g., 911 calls), Amazon Chime will use your emergency call routing number to route your call to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to your emergency services provider, who will route your call to emergency services. Amazon Chime is not responsible for routing calls to emergency services. You must enable and configure both Origination and Termination to use this feature. "

So you need to set it up first and then configure your emergency number in your 3CX settings. Calling 911 will work without any prefixes if set up correctly.

Yea what does that mean to us? All you did was copy and paste their website which we all knew. Do we know if that is just a number they call as a relay? Do we have to setup another SIP trunk with e911?

The way that reads to me is "avoid using Amazon Chime for Emergency Service calls". It seems that they will route the call, but in their interface I cannot see any place to configure ELINs and the addresses, so the PSAP won't know necessarily know the correct address.
Again, base on my interpretation, with their sentence "Amazon Chime will use your emergency call routing number to route your call to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to your emergency services provider, who will route your call to emergency services", they as implying "use it only as a last resort".

I know there is a bit of speculation in here, but the summary I think is clear:
Use a different provider for Emergency Calls

Means they do not support 911 calls on their network. Does Chime bill in 60 second increments?

I mean it's in plain english and if you are selling/managing/installing phone systems, you absolutely should understand what this means as this is absolutely something can result in injury or worse if not configured properly and you will get sued for if it doesn't work.. You do not need another SIP trunk provider although that will work and is probably easier/cheaper. The other option is to do exactly what they say. Setup an account with an emergency services provider who will give you a phone number to call. Amazon Chime will route to that phone number just as it would for any other phone call. The emergency services provider is responsible for then routing the call to the PSAP.
