Hi, can my 3CX phone be set to answerphone and how would I record the outgoing message. Thanks in advance, Greg.

No, the device you are running the 3CX phone on, cannot take messages. That would be the job of the PBX, or provider, whose service you were using.

Thanks for your reply. Yes that's correct. The problem was Plusnet my supplier sending my voicemail .wav files to a defunct email account DOH!
