Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has gotten sms text messaging to work with Anveo Direct? I'm unable to test this out since we have the free license. I would consider upgrading to the professional version if text messages work with our carrier. We were planning on using the 3cx softphones for the messages. Btw. do the soft phones have push notification of text messages?

Thank you,

Anveo Direct is not currently supported, you need Telnyx or Flowroute, I use Telnyx and it works fine.

Does the 3cx soft phone have push notifications for sms messages if we were to use Telnyx?

Yes

So we tried porting the SMS to Telnyx and after two days their agent has told us that

Apparently, our messaging team are unable to activate this number (PHONE) at this time due the messaging capabilities being maintained by Bandwidth.

Any idea what we need to do next? Do we need to contact bandwith.com or something?

You can try contacting Bandwidth, but my guess is they will want to keep SMS on their side even if they don't support 3CX SMS (yet, might be coming, we don't know).

In the meantime, what we do is forward the SMS from the original provider to a specific DID in Telnyx, which is linked to the 3CX. It's not the best as people answer from another DID than what the customer texted, but it's not like every SMS stuff is always using the same number lol (think verification codes, delivery notifications, etc.)

Tell them this: "Either support 3CX for SMS ASAP or let me move the SMS feature to Telnyx."

If they still don't want because "we have our own API and bla bla bla", just say "Then I'll just move the DID to Telnyx and use their service since they are supported and you're not."

It should shake them up. I hate companies like that not capable of recognizing that you need a feature they don't have: 3CX SMS support. Not just "their API."

Ahh, so a person can port the number (audio and sms) to Telnyx to get this working? Is that a recommended solution?

Well, if Bandwidth act like a b**** like that, I would just port to Telnyx. Their voice rate are pretty good too.

Yes, but would porting to Telnyx mess with our account that's with Anveo?

Where's the DID? Because you talk of Bandwidth and Anveo.

Porting a DID is porting, period. I can't tell if it's gonna mess something up unless you have a 3rd-party app using that DID via an API or something like that.

The DID is with Anveo who's been our voip company for the past few years. I think they're resellers or something. Today was the first time I heard that our number is hosted with bandwith.com

Is that Anveo who told you that? If they resell Bandwidth, you are definitely better to just move away to Telnyx because you skip a level of resell, meaning you could potentially save money (their margin.)

Telnyx told me that the DID is with Bandwith not Anveo.

Then, Anveo is probably reselling Bandwidth.

I'd get out of dodge quickly lol you might be overpaying.

We're really happy with Anveo so far. The issue is getting Anveo sms working with 3CX. I created a support ticket with them today and their response was:

All Anveo numbers are already SMS enabled. You can configure SMS HTTP webhook to your server and start receiving messages. If you prefer more options (like SMS to Email) you may consider using Anveo Retail account (not wholesale). on Anveo Retail there are more SMS handling options.

Does that mean we can get this to work with 3CX somehow?

No. 3CX has to support their API/webhooks. It's not a standard across providers.

Forwarding can help for inbound to send SMS to a number, for example on Telnyx. But outgoing would use that Telnyx DID.

To be honest, you are complicating this for nothing. Don't use 3CX SMS, or move your DIDs to a supported provider. If Anveo keeps making you run in circles, I'd just move on.
