I have a client that is moving to a temporary space for 6 - 9 months during a remodel. The temp space will only have AT&T DSL available for Internet service.
Anyone have experience using DSL for SIP, does it work well? Luckily this temp space will only have 4 extensions and very light internet usage.

Do you have a Static IP? That's really going to help the configuration. Although you don't mention cloud host or local server.
DSL by name doesn't matter much - its all about the quality of the signal.

1) What bandwidth up/down will you have? At G711 - 100Kb per call. So usually not an issue.
2) Do they block any ports?
3) Ensure you run a speedtest that also checks Jitter. https://www.voipreview.org/speedtest

You seem to say this as if it is a liability. While fibre may offer greater speeds not all have access to this and many use DSL and Cable internet access. What counts , as mentioned, is the speed and stability, and any "limitations" that they might place on the service. As a major "player" in the market, I'm going to assume that should not be an issue. It may also depend on whether they supply (force upon you) a device (modem/router), that does, or doesn't allow you to configure, or just a modem, with you supplying your own router, allowing you more flexibility.

I appreciate the responses; however the question was, "Anyone have experience using DSL for SIP, does it work well?" I am looking for "works well," "it was terrible," "works but here are some gotcha's that are DSL specific."

I'm well aware of latency and jitter issues which is why I'm asking the question, and yes DSL upload speeds especially can be a liability when sharing the Internet connection.

I am thinking cloud with Rasberry Pi SBC and 4 low-end phones.

This could be considered a "Throw away" system in 9 months as their primary PBX is Avaya, but it will be at a different temporary space with a much larger group of users. Once the remodel is done, they will all be back on the Avaya PBX.

OK to be more specific, I have run a 3CX System of this size over DSL before and did not experience issues, but as above issues can arise from a magnitude of things so consider what has been said previously. For a temporary system however I do not see it being a problem in theory.

With that being said be aware I know a lot of clients who prefer 3CX over Avaya and you can even use their phones now if you have the right models:

https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/avaya-pbx/
https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/avaya-ip-phone-provisioning/

Most prefer 3CX for the features, flexibility and cost savings so you may wish to present 3CX to your client as a long-term solution, if they are open to the idea.
