Hi,
this little message to inform you that the Grandstream GXP21xx can freeze completely after upgrade to 3cx V16x and firmware 1.0.9.132 under certain conditions.
We installed yesterday the upgrade from V15sp6 to V16p3 with a restore of v15. After it our gxp2160 and gxp2130 didn't function anymore. Both phones were already upgraded to the latest firmware V1.0.9.132. When the phone was not connected to the network everything was ok, buttons and display worked. After connecting the network cable everything freezed. The web interface worked. Installing the same phone on a new test pbx didn't show any problem. A new phone on the client pbx showed the same problem.
The status screen of the phone in the web interface showed a 'abnormal' status of the user database and the percentage went up to more as 20%.
After searching / testing a whole day and comparing provisioning files on a new installed system, ...etc. we could pinpoint the problem to the size of the phonebook.csv that was to big. We emptied the file and after provisioning everything worked correctly. I think simply rebooting the phone works also but not tested.
I suppose that there is less user space in the phone after upgrading to V1.0.9.132 and that there is somewhere a memory overflow in the phone when loading a contact file that is to big.
The same contact file in the old firmware did not create any problem. Our phonebook file has 2975 contacts and the file is 642kb in size.
I think that the firmware (Grandstream) should check the size and or number of records to prevent this error.
Bye
Hans
