Hi,

First, here is a description of our setup.
  • We have a 3CX v20 server hosted on Google Cloud Platform in London (europe-west2) which primarily serves users in our UK office.
  • We have set up a new office in Indiana, USA. Our user there is connected to an extension on our server using the 3CX App on Windows. (We tried the 3CX WebClient, but that gets no audio at all - I think because it uses WebRTC and some ISPs seem to block WebRTC.)
  • We have a Fuse2 SIP trunk set up on the the server providing a couple of US phone numbers.

Here's the problem: When calls are made to those US phone numbers and answered by our user in US, the audio contains significant delayed echo.

We had "3CX Delivers Audio" ON and call recording ON (which I believe routes audio via the server for call recording purposes), but have tested with those OFF and still get the echo problem.

What can we do to solve this problem?

Additional information:
  • If the inbound call is forwarded to the mobile phone of our user in the US, then there is no problem.
  • The call quality monitoring for these calls says connection quality is excellent.

In the meantime, I have asked Fuse2 to see if there is anything they can do with the SIP trunk setup as I understand SIP trunks have their own settings for echo cancellation, etc. (Am I right?)

I am starting to consider if setting up a 3CX SMB free install in the US which a bridge connecting to our server in London, however, I am reluctant to is this over-complicates the system.

Many thanks,
John Millis

Hello C4L,

Reading your story, I would agree with the statement that it's best to have 2 3CX servers in a bridge.
Each with their own local trunk, and only bridge for internal calls, or country breakout.

Not sure about the statement of using the free option... so many other questions like number of concurrent calls and bridges supported by free?
