Does anyone have a way to automatically manage the recordings remote archive? I know there is the built in management of the local recordings, but I need that same functionality on the remote archive.

We currently archive all recordings on a daily basis to keep the PBX server size under control, and then want to delete all archived recordings after 30 days. Unless I am missing something, I have not been able to find any documentation or settings that will do this in 3CX. I know you can manually filter and delete files from the web and/or management portals, but I need to be able to do it automatically as we manage a good number of 3CX instances. I have tried setting a script on the remote archive location that will auto delete the files as desired, but 3CX does not appear to re-inventory the archive location. This results in the files being deleted, but their listing still showing in 3CX (producing an error when you try to download the deleted file).

Is there any command or function we could automate to force 3CX to re-inventory the remote archive location?
I know VoIPTools has this functionality, but I do not have the want, budget, or overhead to add it onto multiple 3CX instances.

Any help is appreciated.

Normally you would use the storage features for that. For example, S3 and Google Buckets support deleting old files automatically.

3CX has no control once the recordings are archived. It can see them, download and delete them. You can't even play them directly.

Note that CDR and such keeps the same recording URL even if the file itself isn't there anymore.

I can easily write a script to delete the files, that is not the issue. I need for 3CX to know that those files are deleted so they no longer show in the portal, and done in a scheduled/automatic fashion. 3CX will re-inventory the local storage of recordings, but not the remote archive. If it is not possible then I will go the feature request route.

My assumption is that the archive information is saved in the PostgreSQL database somewhere. Simply deleting the files is not going to remove the records from the database. I don't think there is a solution to this. Tinkering with data in the database would be a very bad idea and would certainly get your PBX flagged as unsupported.

As an alternative, our Recording Manager tool can archive recordings for you. We already have a retention policy for the original recordings... we could take the same code and add a retention policy for archived recordings. Our tool also allows you to score how an agent handled the call, and add notes to the recording. Further, our archives have the same (or better) compression levels but are in MP3 format, so they can be played on more devices.
