I have a Ring Group setup to call an outside number if not picked up after 20 seconds.

I can see the outside call come in, then the timeout happens and the pbx dials out to the outside number. But after 20-40 seconds the call ends saying call can not be completed as dialed. Seems to be specific to calls coming into this SIP Trunk (voip.ms).

Any suggestions on how to fix?

FYI - It's not a rules issue, if someone picks it up then forwards to the outside number it works fine

It could be a rules issue. Is your outbound rule scoped to extensions or an extension group?

Otherwise it's likely your trunk provider not liking the CID the call is going out with. Either scenario could be determined by looking at the logs.

not a rules issue, the outbound call is happening.

You mention the CID on the outbound, what should I be looking for in the log?

VOIP. ms began blocking "non standard" caller ID, because of spam regulations, back in December. They were also sending an email to "remind" you each this happened (not sure if that is still happening). What log, do you actually get, when a call attempt is sent to the provider? It's interesting that other forwarding is working correctly.

Do you modify the incoming caller ID, prefix with a 9, to allow redial, and that number is being sent back out?

In the log you should be looking for a reason why it was rejected. If you are sure it's going out then it sounds like a conversation to have with VOIP.ms

I have had this occur, I can have the correct rules for users to make outgoing calls.. eg I had default users - use trunk A. This worked for users but hte 3CX appliance couldnt use that rule. I created a rule (in Australia mobiles start with 04) so I created a rule that is anything that starts with 04 use trunk A. Fixed the call route issue with the PBX forwarding internally.

If you see the call being sent to the provider (via capture) then clearly the rules allow it.

However, you will need to compare specific forwards VS successful ones via capture, and see what is sent out to VOIP.MS and what they reply in either scenario
