Our production floor is moving to scheduled department break times so nobody can complain about certain people taking more time off than others. The production manager wants me to *quickly* implement some sort of automated chime or tone from our massive Algo SIP horn speakers ( https://www.algosolutions.com/product/8186-ip-horn-speaker/ ) at specific times of day to indicate when the breaks begin and end. I set up multicast paging on these a couple years ago AND THEY ARE AWESOME!

The easiest thing about this is that these speakers have up to 10 customizable internal multicast profiles which can listen on different ports and have custom messages uploaded into the speakers themselves, so I don't have to worry about 3cx doing anything other than calling a specific multicast paging group at specific times of day. The speaker will play the chime or customized message in its entirety once it detects a multicast page being triggered.

In the nearly 5 years I've been managing our ever-growing multi-city phone system I've never had to use the CFD for anything and I'm having a rough go here. This sounds like it would be about the most simple implementation of ANY sort of call flow, but even after referencing a similar post about timed paging on this forum I'm really at a loss at how to implement it.

1) This needs to happen at a specific time, not in a window. The date/time condition seems to call for a window. I'm assuming once this is working fundamentally, I'll set up numerous iterations with different sounds for start/stop and multiple breaks in the day.
2) This is invoked by the time of day, not an inbound DID, etc. so I'm not sure how or where this gets invoked in 3CX other than simply importing it into 3CX... but what actually triggers it?
3) Is there a generic "System" extension that makes these automated calls or does it have to originate from an actual extension that has been created?
4) Will there need to be a "Hang up after 10 seconds" etc. command added?

It's not much, but here's what I have so far. I'm really having a hard time grasping the theory on how or what makes this actually work.

You need a simple dialer that triggers the paging extension when desired.

My apologies, but

My apologies. Is this something I could potentially get some more detailed guidance on? I have watched about 30 minutes worth of 3CX videos on the subject and everything I can find pertains to mass automated calling or making incoming call menus. Nothing seems to pertain to what I am trying to do specifically. I've burned about 4 hours worth of time in the app attempting to build the ZIP files and import them into 3CX, but when the time comes the calls aren't placed.

My assumption is that I'm missing something extremely simple but massively important.

Might be worth hiring someone... dialers are not easy to setup, but yes that is what you need.

I've gotten it to the point where it will actually call the extension multiple separate times in the 1 minute window, but it still has to originate from a desk phone. If I (or anyone else) needs to physically pick the their "Make Call" desk phone up to kick things off.

This "simple" dialer would seem like it shouldn't be rocket surgery. Just trying to get help on the question "How do I make my phone system trigger a page at a set time each day?" which seems like it should be pretty "simple" as mentioned earlier.

Yes, I know people are available for hire. Yes, I know there are products out there that can do this for $139/month. That's not really what the "If you need help with CFD, please go to the 3CX forums for support" is really all about... is it?

The reason it does that it's because you need to store or keep track of when the last page was done so it doesn't do it multiple times.

Also, you'll probably want to use an IVR that has the paging prompt in it, set it to end call after 1sec (the timer starts after the prompt played) and then do the Make Call between the IVR and the paging ring group.

3CX dialers are very flexible but very barebones. You need to build the whole logic in there. Also, you can configure the properties to be a power dialer and run every 60sec instead of 1sec or other.

That IVR tip makes a ton of sense.

We could build that pretty easily too. We do a lot of CFDs.

You may want to look at our 3CX Audio Scheduler tool. It was designed specifically for your scenario.

Thank you. Unfortunately that is out of our price range due to the number of simultaneous calls we have with our license. Our use case doesn't need any of the other features currently either.
