Hi all,

Wondering if this request is possible:

A call comes in, goes to the ring group "all", if the call isn't answered after 10 seconds, the call automatically parks. If SP1 is occupied, it parks in SP2, and so on.

I've created dummy extensions for SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4 which work when dialed directly. My next idea was to create a round robin call queue consisting of the 4 dummy extensions with the hopes it would park calls in order they are received.

I've checked all the "allow user to park calls" options in extensions options, but still cant seem to get this idea working.

Anyone had any success doing a similar setup to this? I'd be interested to hear how you sorted it out.

Thanks in advance

Have you considered using a queue? If a caller has not called in before, having their call route directly to music, with no notification as to what is happening, may cause them to hang up and try again, thinking something went wrong.

In that scenario would the round robin even see the extensions are available, or just skip them?
Be careful to not transfer two calls to the same SP or they end up talking to each other.

A queue seems the much more natural way to do this.

Thanks for all the replies.

The phone system is in a mechanic shop with 2 reception staff. These reception staff also do things during the day such as drop vehicles back to customers, serve walk in customers, go out the back to check inventory etc. so they are at times not at their desk.

I tried a call queue, but the constant need for logging out of the queue when they walk out the back, go for a test drive etc. is often overlooked and ends up with their phone ringing constantly in the reception area which can be annoying for walk-in customers and the other receptionist who is likely on a call already or serving a customer. Plus if the unattended desk is ringing constantly that means a queued caller has been assigned to the agent who is not at their desk and would not get answered/lost in queue.

We want the calls to park themselves so the receptionists can focus more on being able to do their job and be a bit more hands-off with the phone system.

I will look further into the CFD option, I had a brief look yesterday but got called away.
