Hello,

I am working on both an Avaya IP Office and 3CX setup at a private school that the previous tech set up and didn't leave any documentation. The systems work together for the PA system set up on the 3CX side with a SIP Trunk and I can call the ring group extension from the Avaya phones and it connects. My issue is Avaya has been set up to page all of the phones by using four hunt groups and I'm trying to set it up so when you dial one of those hunt groups it also connects to the 3CX ring group and pages not only the Avaya phones but also the speakers connected to the 3CX system. Anyone ever ran into a similar situation? Any help would be appriciated.

Hi

I'll be trying to do something very similar in a few weeks time, what version of IPO are you running and which edition of the IPO (Embedded, preferred) ?

If there was a delay between the audio of both systems would that be a problem?

Jeremy

The 3cx version I'm on is 16.0.655 and the Avaya IP Office version is 9.0.5.0 build 972.

I'm also on 9.0.5.0 build 972 and running voicemail pro on the associated windows servers. I'm on 3cx version 16.0.5.622. Trying to ascertain if you've just got the pbx or if you have the windows servers too, as I think that will give us a few more options to juggle with. I'm starting work on this tomorrow but taking some annual leave from Friday, so you may not hear from me until the 17th.

Yes, we are running a dedicated windows system with Avaya server on it and also have voicemail pro.

Have you had any luck with it so far?

IPO doesn’t natively support multicast paging. If the 3CX is connected on a sip trunks take your 3CX user in IPO and forward the call out the SIp trunk to 3CX. Or use a SIP paging adapter that can dual register to both the IPO and 3CX for the overhead paging speakers.

I have it set up to page from the Avaya system to the 3CX by dialing a number say 8500 and it pages all of the speakers in an area but if I dial 600 in Avaya it pages all of the Avaya phones. I want to dial the 600 from the Avaya phones and also have it hit the 3CX speakers. I think I need to set it up on the Avaya system but can't get any help from Avaya.

What is “8500”? A short code or a user? From reading your last post I agree you have everything working we just need the right config in the IPO.

The 8500 is the number set up in 3CX for the paging system.

I'll post some pictures of the set up tomorrow when I get to the office.

So you currently can’t page only the overhead speakers from the IPO? What device is onsite that’s doing the paging with the 3CX?

Yes, I can page the speakers from the Avaya system to the 3CX the 8500 is the trunk number. What I want to do is also incorporate that into the Avaya paging, so when I dial the 600 extension it not only pages the phones but also hits the 3CX system. The way it is set up now is there are Avaya phones in each room and there are speakers in the hallways on the 3CX system. I can page them separately by dialing the 600 it goes to the phones and dialing 8500 it goes to the 3CX speakers, I want to be able to dial the 600 and it hits both systems.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, we went live on our 80 odd user system of which 45 users are using the chrome extension which dies when it feels like it. with a whole load of other teething problems , so have had greater issues to contend with. The paging setup has taken something of a back seat.

As far as I can tell from your conversation so far, dialling 8500 on the IPO is initiating a standard trunk call (SIP) from the IPO to the 3cx which is then being translated into a paging call by the 3cx system for the 3cx handsets so it then comes out their internal speakers. Am I correct so far?

dialling 600 on the IPO is generating a paging call to the IPO handsets and your voice is then coming out of the internal speaker of the Avaya handsets. Again have I got this correct?

Is there a seperate Tannoy/PA speaker system linked into this and if so how? You mention overhead speakers and I can't figure out where that comes into the equation. Correction - just reread the previous post and can see the overhead speakers are linked into the 3cx system

I honestly don't know if this will work, it'll depend on a few factors including the answers to my previous post and there's possibly some other things to try depending where your 3cx system is in relation to the IPO.

Create a new user on the IPO for instance extension 399 call it "page 3cx" as part of that creation process when you click on ok it will ask if you want to create an H.323 or SIP extenson - I can't remember the wording off the top of my head, anyway at that point click cancel.
Now go back into the user called "Page 3cx" and forward all calls to 8500 and save it.
Save the config back to the PBX.
Now make a normal call to extension 399 from an avaya handset and see if it rings through to the 3cx system and initiates a paging call and therefore comes out of your 3cx overhead speakers.
If that works add extension 399 to your 600 paging group and try a 600 paging call and see what happens.
