AWS Lightsail Performance Issues?

Hi guys,

I have just set up a test 3CX install on an AWS Lightsail instance. The process was very painless and simple to set up.

Has anyone had any issues with performance issues when under heavy loads (i.e. large amount of calls, etc)? My largest clients have 8SC licenses and 12 - 15 handsets.

I plan using the $5.00 instance for my clients if all goes well.

8 is not a large amount of calls, and calls are not load unless you are transcoding. Queues, reporting, recording is load. But at the end of the day, everyone's environment is unique, and that's the point of the cloud. If you put it on Lightsail and you have performance issues, it's a couple clicks and reboot and you have more performance.

Thanks cobaltit. I only have one client with 6 DID's and 10 queues relating to those queues. There isnt a lot of traffic on those though. Not doing any recording nor reporting on any systems so looks like it could be the go!

It's worth noting that unlike EC2, Lightsail instances start with Zero Boost credit. If it's a new instance then you might be using what you're accumulating setting up and installing the software. Might be worth leaving the instance for a few hours to clock up some credit before evaluating the performance.

There's no "credits" on Lightsail. Only EC2.

They have "burst capacity" which is exactly the same thing. It's not described up front in the sales pitch so many people don't find out about until after their box is running but it makes lightsail on par with the older T2 instances.

You get a baseline performance of 10% on the the $5 plan and you accumulate minutes when you're under this threshold allowing you to use that unused capacity at another time. By default you have no burst capacity so your server runs at minimum for the time you are trying to set it up.

I did not know that at all. Never had issues tho so never really cared, good to know!
