Is there any reason why the backup location cannot use mapped network drives.
It used to work with them before.
Now the only options we have are local and ftp. The local option does not bring up any mapped networked drives and I do not want to use ftp.

I have that question too.
Also, how can I include the date in the file name ? I want to keep every backup. Right now I am doing extra steps to rename the backup file (including date) and copy it to a remote location for storage.

Hi All
Yes we disabled network drives.

The problem is that the Backup and restore is made by the Management console which is a Web application.
So you need to grant rights to the user that started the Web Application to be able to connect and Write to the Network shared path.

We had this enabled but it was SO UNRELIABLE, that sometimes Windows was ignoring the credentials you set in the management console and using the ones it had in cache.

We will revisit this problem again to revisit some things we might have missed during the main release.

We also have some ideas for you if you want. If you install dropbox for example (or any other upload software) and configure the backup path to put backups in the dropbox repository, they get backed up automatically to dropbox.
