Basic Certification Exam

I've failed this test 2 times now, each time I get 24/30, of course.

I'm trying to figure out what questions I keep getting wrong, probably the same ones.

A few of the questions are difficult to answer without knowing the background of the person who wrote the test.

For example: One of the questions asks about a broadcast(or multicast, can't recall) packet being sent on 192.168.0.1/24 and will it be received on 192.168.1.1/24 ? The obvious answer is it would not. But this all depends on what equipment is on this network and how it configured. I use cisco's IP HELPER to forward broadcasts for DHCP requests to other networks as one example.

Other questions ask about opening a ports in the firewall, but the questions feel vague and could be answered either true or false depending on your understanding of networking.

Can anyone shed some light on this test who has passed it. How should I be approaching this test?

I understand what you mean as I fall into that in multiple choice tests also sometimes. I would not overthink the answers. For instance, "do you need to forward port __"...well no, not if the server isn't using NAT, but that's not what they mean. It's meant that https://www.3cx.com/3cxacademy/videos/basic/ has the answers (note they have transcripts of each video, allowing searching). E.g. "Multicast messages are limited to a local subnet and will usually not be able to go through routers, firewalls and other border devices, even to other local subnets." Generally what @SteveITS said, don't overthink it. The vast majority of the answers to the Certification Questions will be found in the presentations and/or videos found in the 3CX Academy page, most times word-for-word.

also remember it's open book, you can go through each module as you take the test.

I found the basic more difficult than the intermediate or advanced.

As above, don't 'what if' or second guess the questions. The simplest answer is almost always the correct one.

Ha, I had the same first impression when I got to the intermediate. (haven't gotten around to the advanced yet)

Perhaps basic seems hardest than other because it's the first one and also depends on time you've learn or practice with 3cx.

Basic was only available in english when i pass it for V14 and 2 other times one in V15 english and last time in French.
Of course the more you do the easiest it is, got advanced at the first try, proud of me
