Hi,

We have staff that need to be able to receive calls which are redirected to voicemail always (these staff do not have desk phones but rather use a shared phone in the staff room to make calls). They work in an environment where they must not be disturbed by calls at any time of the day (I wish I could force all our clients to just send them an email but unfortunately, we're in the public sector and people still prefer to leave voicemails in this day and age).

For now, we are considering using Auto Switch to always put them on DO NOT DISTURB status 24x7. Just wondering if there is a better way to achieve what we want and wondering if there are any pitfalls to using Auto Switch for this (e.g. when the user changes their status in the web client, would Auto Switch be overridden or will Auto Switch continue to override the user set status)?

Hey @my3cxRC,

Profile auto switching will indeed be overridden if the user manually switched profile status to let's say "Available". It would be best if you simply use a Forwarding Rule Exception.

You could for instance create a Forwarding Exception Rule as follows:

The asterisk symbol is used in the Calls From Caller ID to match all calls. This exception rule will supersede your forwarding rules.

Note: Forwarding Exceptions Rules can be created under Extensions >> Edit >> Forwarding Rules >> Exceptions (down below)

If they are voicemail only extensions and have no phones or apps registered to them you shouldn't have to do anything. Calls to an extension with no registered devices will just go directly to voicemail.

That is very true! Provided that the forwarding rule for when Available and Unregistered does exactly that of course.
