Hi Guys,

I'm looking for the best way to temporarily route calls which requires the least amount of input.

We often get asked by customers to set up a temporary closure or redirect which requires a new greeting also.

Id like to be able to set up a call route to go elsewhere on a specific day/time and then switch back afterwards.

is there a way to do this without using the CFD?

Would you like this to be done for all calls on the specific day/time or calls that are destined for an extension to go elsewhere?
Could you please provide an example?

So, typically Calls go to RG during office hours and VM of EXT out of hours.

I want calls to go to a greeting and then voicemails for 2 days only and then revert back to normal.

Can you give me a call flow example to provide you with a good solution?

Normal Hours

DID => Q1

Temp message/closure

DID => Message then voicemail

I then want it to automatically go back to normal hours.

I know i can do this manually but being able to set it once and then forgetting about it would be more ideal.

An idea for this would be to use a dummy extension.

If the Out of Office hours do not change you can do this by creating a dummy extension and forwarding the call from your DID when OOF to a dummy extension.
  • Go to users and create a new dummy extension
  • Go to Inbound Rules>>DID
  • On the "Route calls to" section select "Set up Specific Office Hours for this rule" and set up your office and out-of-office hours.
  • On the "Destination for calls outside office hours" set the call to go to the Dummy extension.
  • Go to the Dummy extension and on the bottom of the page on the "Exceptions" section click "Add"
  • On the "Calls From Caller ID" add * so all calls will follow this exception rule
  • On the "Received hours" set it to All hours.
  • On the "Forward to" select where the call will be forwarded.
This will forward all calls going to that DID while OOF to the dummy extension, and the dummy extension will route the call based on the Exception rule.

You can add multiple exceptions and move the order depending on your need.

Also if the calls will be forwarded to the Voicemail of an extension you can record your own Voicemail Greeting by going to the Users>>Extension>>Voicemail and on the "Manage Voicemail Greetings" record your own voicemail.

This is going to be much easier in update 6. Just wait a few weeks and this can be done from the web client....
