BLF Issues

So.... after rebooting my v14 pbx. My server became unlicensed and would not communicate with the activation server. Prompting me to upgrade to v155 which did the trick. I restored my config from the backup and all seemed okay. Then I discovered that all the Yealink T46G phones were firmware unsupported at rom v23.73.blah blah blah... so they needed upgrading

I then found using the +firmware button on the "Phones" page did nothing. SO.... I upgraded every phone to 28.83.0.50 from each phones web site. Then used the +firmware button at the pbx, which worked on most, but a few I had to factory reset before anything would hold. All are "in the black" now. at 28.83.0.55

BUT

a few of my VP530 video phones I use to answer the doors with, have apparently lost their configs for just ONE of the doors. ??? I'm not clear how to actually configure these and they don't appear to be laid out in the BLF secftion at the pbx gui, but on the phones they are clearly in the BLFs. SO.....I'm confused.

I should be able to see the BLF that is currently working for the other door and replicate it for the missing BLF. But I can't find the first BLF to review. SO I'm also stuck.

Is there a way I can download the config of a phone to a file I could then replicate to the other phones? Am I missing something?

Well, I figured it out. The web interface displayed the settings for the door phones release trigger to send to the lock. Applying a bit of logic and reason to the problem restored all function.

This is unfortunately the price you pay for leaving your system so long without upgrading.

Surprisingly the Yealink VP530 is still on the supported list with 3CX albeit (with limited life and support) due to its age: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/

It would be good to know the details of what this limitation is however.

I sort of understand why you were running on v14 still due to the age of these Yealinks, however it may be time to consider a phone upgrade

Just seen your resolution, good to see you have found a way round it. Still have a look at the guide I posted in case it outlines anything that could improve your experience.

The price I pay? If I had updated a year ago it would have still been screwed up. the restore would not have actually fully restored functionality then either. I would have been in the same boat. There is a downside to upgrading y'know.

Surprisingly? It is current technology! It runs on IP, rtsp, POE, and SIP. All still current technologies. Why is it EOL except to push hardware churn? Wasteful.

Not BLFs at all ultimately, ALL DTMF signalling and Line Key function. The line key fires off the DTMF string to the door phone relay which then sends a hash to the lock.

I was running on v14 because it was working perfectly fine until they #@%%^D us for not buying their maintenance. We bought the 530s two years ago... If we have to buy new phones every couple years, I'm going back to a Keyed PBX and POTS service. cheaper and less wasteful.

Unfortunately like anything these days there are downsides to keeping your system out of date.

In your case it has been the requirement to update everything incrementally.

The T46G's have been EOL for a while now superseded by the T46S phones and VP530s have not been current for a while now, I guess you could say they have been followed up by the T49G video phone (also EOL) or the Android phones they now sell, however I think getting them to work in your environment would be a challenge.

Glad you have a temporary fix, keep an eye out in case they fall off the supported limit life list however.
