BLF with SPA 932

Hi,

LInksys does not support BLF as yet. What Asterisknow supports is some form of Share line appearance which is not the same. LInksys are releasing a firmware that will do BLF over the next 1-2 months.

We are looking to fully support LInksys when they release their BLF functionality. We are already working on a provisioning template. Right now Linksys works well with 3CX, except for the BLF which requires an update from Linksys and 3CX in 1-2 months time. We will be doing this. Its on our priority list.

Today linksys released a new firmware and they've added as server type RFC3265_4263 - I do not know what is ... do you think that now should work with 3cx?

Hi there,

I just received reply from european Linksys VoIP staff, where they asked me to give them more information about how you implement the RFC (busy lamps etc.), they might be supporting it in the SPA932 right now, but have not made it public yet. I can give you contact of the person that acts as my go-between for Linksys.

But in the light of your reply, I think it would be pointless, Linksys has already started cooperation in this matter. What do you think?

Currently, 3CX PBX supports two variants of BLF: "presence" event, as per RFC3863 (Grandstream uses it), and "dialog" event package as per RFC4235 (Snom/Aastra uses it).

Thank you Archie,

so even with RFC3265_4263 3CX still not supported ?

Have a nice day!
Federico

RFC3265 is supported. What is 4263 I don't know. If it is RFC4263 - it is not related to SIP, so it is not supported.

Thank you Archie,

so considering that now Linksys supports RFC3265, now 3CX BLF should work with Linksys?

BLF works also with the free edition?

Thank you again.

Archie,

thanks for the info, I will pass it over to that Linksys contact of mine. But if there is a new FW supporting rfc3265, then that would be quite irrelevant, right? I try to test the new FW as soon as I get my hands on it. Is there anything special about the 3cx setting I should know about?

Dave

The new firmware is on public download on Linksys site.

In response to federico; MWI and BLF are NOT included in the free edition.

Thank you but I have tried also with Enterprise edition v. 3 and not working.

BLF probably only with V5.1 ? For other users that now have new firmware, please advise if works or not.
Thank you.

As I have already told, BLF is supported by 3CX in two veriants: either as per RFC3863 ("presence" event) or RFC4235 ("dialog" event). RFC3265 describes only a SIP protocol elements (SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY) used to deliver events, not BLF's events themselves.

Thank you Archie,
So we should wait an updated firmware from Linksys that will be released in about 2 months, right ?

Thank you.

Yes

Hi folks,

after some time I am again opening our old theme - support of the Linksys SPA932 BLF. Today I got a message from Linksys EU folks that the Linksys - 3cx compatibility test just resulted fine, and the note is also issued on the title page of yours. But there still is no info about this specific issue.

So you saying that all tests were good, can I take it as BLF on SPA932 will work as well?

Thanks :-).

Dave

No, BLF is not working with Linksys yet. This is planned for q3 when general availability of the Linksys BLF for all phones is available. We will support BLF with 932 but we are launching v6 first.

just wondering if this is working yet as i have 12 linksys spa962 's and dont feel like spending money on replacing them

SPA 962 phones BLF work perfectly with 3CX. The latest build was updated to work with the LInksys BLF (which only works on the 962)

Note that the 932 does not have BLF yet, i.e Linksys must release an update to the phone for it to support Linksys BLF.

Linksys phones in general perform well, we can recommend them.

is there a process that i have to go through ie change settigns to get BLF to work.
as in when one extensions is on the line i can see this from my phone

cheers
Josh

Just to be sure, are we talking about Linksys 962? Yes this work fine with 3CX. If you have any issues, and have a commercial edition of 3CX, you can contact our support department. But we have installs with the Linksys 962 that work well.
