Hello;

Our provider requires that every outbound call be from a registered CID for the call to go through, but when blind transferring an external number to someone, it retains the original CID.
The issue comes when you try to blind transfer an external number to another external number; it forwards the original CID (which is not registered with our provider), and the call fails to process due to invalid CID. Attended transfer works just fine, as it dials the end destination as your own CID.

Is there a way to not pass through the original CID for blind transfers? Ideally, only for external to external transfers?

Create a new outbound rule, with a different prefix. If you use 9, as the outbound prefix now, use 8, or 7. If you don't now require a prefix, then create a rule with one. Put a fixed caller ID, on this rule (your "main" number?), and have people use the new rule when doing a blind, external transfer, to send only the caller ID you've added to that rule.

Thanks for the reply; how would I have people use only the new rule when transferring? Can I apply the rule only to transfers; and if so, how?
If not, how does the end user select which outbound rule to use?

They would have to be instructed, to use the new prefix, when doing a blind transfer, to an outside number. I'm not aware of any method of automating this.

Thanks for the help.

For anyone else finding this thread in the future, here is the resolution. (SIP Provider Telin).

I opened a support ticket with 3CX directly to see if there was any custom parameters available for this, and this was the response.

"Thank you for contacting 3CX Technical Support.

Kindly note that there is currently no option in the PBX to alter the behavior as specific to External/External Blind transfers. The blind transfer imitation may also relate to the compatibility of certain SIP Providers. SIP trunk compatibility for Telin currently does not allow for "Clip No Screening Support" of which relates to the behavior mentioned (allowing different numbers, not assigned to the SIP Account, to be passed for outbound calls)."

So it's a limitation with the SIP provider not support "Clip No Screening", and there's nothing 3CX can do aside from custom outbound rules to work around it. Working with Telin from this point on, marking this thread as resolved.
