Hi there.

We are updating 2 systems in the next few weeks but they will not be updating to V20 at the same time.

After we update the first system to V20 will our bridge to the 2nd system on V18 still work?

Thanks.

Hey,
if i remember well it will be ok excepted presence won't be working until 2nd PBX is also V20

No, they need to be on the same main version and build.

Hello, Are you 100% sure of that, for now I have no more v18 so impossible to test but in recent past i've got V18 bridged pbx and they didn't upgrade to v20 in same time because one was an on premise Windows pbx (Windows release didn't exist at that time), so for a while only one was in v20 debian while the other side was always in V18 windows.
In that case, it seems to me, the bridge was UP and able to be used to make call but no presence (and for this I have a doubt if it was for both sides).
May be I'm wrong and I mess myself with previous others releases

I have v20U4 and v18 working bridge, and status/presence updates too.

Interesting, 3cx always said they have to be on the exact same version.

3CX line is "not supported".. your milage may differ!

In 2020, asked the same question about Bridge between V15.5 and V16 which worked fine.https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/bridge-between-15-5-and-16-will-it-work.73543/

Thanks for your responses. Will update the thread when we have updated the first server.

Just want to clarify a few things here.

When we test each new version, and even updates, we always test with the same version and update number.

Most of the times we dont make any changes to the tunnel or bridge modules in the code, so this results in you being able to bridge non matching version numbers or updates together.

However, sometimes we might need to tweak things a bit, for functionality or security reasons, so this is why we say that the 2 systems should be on the same version and update number, for compatibility reasons.
