Busy announcement

Hello Guys,

Just migrate from Asterisk/Elastix to 3cx.

Normally on asterisk when user A calls user B and if user B is busy, User A hear an announcement saying " user is busy, please hold" and the the phone of user B starts ringing.

I actually customize the said call flow.

Can we do that on 3cx.

Hi Shaqib,

There are a few ways that you can have announcements played.

One way is to go to Settings --> General, and enable option "Play Busy prompt when extension is busy". This is a global option that applies to all extensions and will convert call states, like busy, number does not exist, etc, into audible messages.

If you are not looking for a global option and just handle individual extensions in this way, you could enable "Transfer Back on Busy" which is again in this Settings --> General.

Another way would be to play with the Forwarding Rules and the "If phone is busy" option. I an idea could to create a Queue that would have only this extension in. Then set "If phone is busy" to send the calls to the Queue that could have the announcement "user is busy, please hold", and would wait there until your Extension is free.

Thanks Nick,

I tried the first option but it goes directly to voicemail. Maybe because of the extension setting.

Any idea of how to by-pass that?

Will enable setting globally for all internal extension.

The first option will give you an audible message only if you set the Forwarding Rule to "End Call" (which sends a bus busy signal).

Give the options a try and see how it goes.
