I am currently prototyping for our company an interface between our in house software and 3cx. I have had success with the 3cx softphone API allowing incoming calls to be alerted to users as well as the user being able to make calls.
This covers the user side integration, but now I need to move on to the management side of things. This will involve giving managers access to all call recordings as well as listing all calls which have been made over a period for an extension.
I think, if I understand correctly, I will need to write a DLL using the call-control-api, does the API give access to these recordings as well as call history? If so how would I deploy the DLL to the 3cx hosted server, or will we need to host the server ourselves in the cloud?

The call control API doesn't provide access to the call history information, but the CDR files do (going forward). You can get the path to the Recordings (for new calls) through the API.

Thanks, I will take a look. Would you know anything about the hosting of the server to get the dll uploaded? Do you think we should host our own or is it doable with the 3cx hosted one?
Once again, thank you for your time.

If you are running 3CX in the cloud running Linux, you will have to write the DLL using .Net Core and host the dll as a daemon. It is a bit easier (at least for me) if the 3CX server is running Windows.

Ok, I will need to work out how 3cx express set up is configured.
On the API side of things, I am about to dive into the API documentation, you mentioned I can get the path to recordings through the API, is this the server side or the 3cxsoftphone api?

Thanks again.

If you are hosting this 3CX, it will always be in the same place so you can safely assume it will be at: /var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Recordings
