Hi Guys and Girls,

We currently have over 100 outbound rules to handle speed dial routing to employee mobile phones across multiple departments(branches). Each department uses different SIP trunks, and each employee has multiple outbound rules (one per department trunk). This has become exceedingly difficult to manage.

I want to create a single call processing script that:
  1. Takes a speed dial number (e.g., 2001, 3001, 4001)
  2. Maps it to the actual mobile number (e.g., +1234567890)
  3. Determines the caller's department based on their extension
  4. Routes the call through the appropriate department SIP trunk
Any other ideas on how to do this?

The system is on-prem hosted by us.

Not possible. You cannot control outbound trunk selection via call scripts. Nor could it automatically be triggered for all speed dials. It would only have its own extension number.

This is what we do now.

Hi,

Are these employees not defined as normal users with extensions? Trying to understand the need of these custom speed dial codes.

A suggested setup, if I did understand what your end result wish is:

If a user has a normal extension, you can set forwarding rules (or Also Ring My Mobile) to ring their mobiles, then have one outbound rule per mobile number (Calls to numbers starting with prefix, the whole mobile) setting the trunk to use.

Hi @cobusdu, hope you are well? :)

Further to @KyriacosS_3CX question regarding if these employees are normal users with extensions, can these mobile users adopt the 3CX mobile app? This way, your users could just call the extension number of the mobile user directly and it would be using the tunnel port to contact the mobile user rather than a trunk call, negating the need for the outbound rule to mobile directly :)

On the other hand, I know users can be against using a workplace application on a personal mobile phone, so this may be the scenario you're already facing!
