Call Recording - Check my work?

Extension 201 - call recording off
Extension 301 - call recording on

Any call placed between these two extensions WILL be recorded? As call recording ON 'would win' the configuration?

Any call 201 places externally or to other extension with call recording off, call not recorded.

Any call 301 places, will be recorded.

Am I correct?

Hey @TitleRequired,

That is absolutely correct. If at least one of the two participants of a call have call recording enabled, the call will be recorded. It's like an OR gate.

On the Enterprise version, with the option to dynamically turn recording on or off, would 201 be able to prevent the recording of the call?

(Im thinking not, for the same reasons above)

It's actually the other way around, on a Professional License, extensions can stop or start recordings at will during the call. Meaning that extension 201 should already be able to stop the call recording while on the call. In Enterprise, you have the option to prevent extensions from being able to stop/start recordings during the call.

Oh, I thought this meant this was enterprise only?

Yes, that is correct, but you may be misunderstanding the specific option.

Toggling it on or off is available in Enterprise Edition only, as you can see, it is currently enabled but greyed out. Which means, since it is enabled, users can now start and stop recordings and you cannot prevent them from doing so because the option is locked to the enabled state. To disable it, you will require an Enterprise Edition.

Sorry I think I see what you mean now.

The enterprise option means dynamic recording can be disabled, forcing it on or off.

So, ok in that event - if 201 calls 301, 201 can then turn off the recording even though 301 is set to record?

That is correct, of course, 301 will be able to re-enabled it. In any case, both extensions should be able to see the recording state at any time, provided that they are using a 3CX Client.
