HI

I have installed a 3cx express but didn't get the chance to test everything. One of the features that I need to test is to do with Call Recording. We need to be able to records all incoming calls and able to be stored somewhere for review later.

  1. does the call only be stored as wav files?
  2. Will there be any metadata that we can use ? i.e. when reviewing the calls we would like to know the CID, time of call etc.

is this possible in the pro version?

  1. Yes it is stored as WAV unless you use PCM compressed files (it's an option)
  2. Yes, recording is available with metadatas in the Recordings tab as well as in CDR and reports.

This is all possible on version Pro and Enterprise ONLY. Standard doesn't have Call Recording. And only in Enterprise you can prevent manual start/stop of recording.

3CX has a number of training videos, on You Tube...

This deals with ver 15.5

It is worth noting on a signalling and media level that with call recording enabled all media traffic will be routed via the PBX (much like the PBX Delivers audio setting) and not endpoint to endpoint like with standard SIP calls.

Great info. Certainly answered many of my queries.

1. Once the files being archived, say to Google Drive. is it fair to say the metadata too is gone? i.e only the media files is retained.

2. In the case of reviewing the recording, is it possible to define a specific user account that can access to those voice recordings? THe last thing i want is to give out admin user account.

Understood this is a paid feature and we'll upgrade to Pro in this case.

1. No, the metadata are saved in 3CX only so as long as you don't delete it from the Recordings page, CID and timestamp will stay even archived.

2. Yes, you can add people to groups and use "Can see group recordings". Then, in Extension -> Phone -> 3CX App, you can manage "Can see recordings" under Access.

It's pretty straightforward.

If you need a reseller for your upgrade, I can help!
