Hi team,

We currently have an existing setup with 99 extension users, and our license is expiring next month. Is it still possible to renew this specific setup under a 16 Simultaneous Calls (SC) license?

Looking forward to your advice. Thanks!

We just renewed a 4SC with exceeded users without issue.

Though, it was unintentional.

Whilst it'll let you, there's no saying when FUP changes and 3CX enforces this hard limit.

You should take this as your nod to transition to a higher license.

Thank you for the clarification regarding this matter.

I would like to clarify some technicalities regarding our upcoming 16SC (Simultaneous Calls) license renewal, considering we currently have 99 existing users/extensions configured in the system.

Specifically, I’d like to ask:
  1. Feasibility of Renewal: Is it possible to proceed with the 16SC renewal even though we have 99 existing users/extensions?
  2. Impact on the Excess Users (19 extensions): If we renew the 16SC license, what will happen to the excess users/extensions?
    • Will the system automatically disable 19 accounts? If so, is the selection random?
    • Will those 19 users still be able to log in?
    • Can they still make or receive calls?
Looking forward to your clarification on this.

Thanks,

Can I ask when you renewed? Their new package pricing just came out when we updated 3CX on June 19.

Hi Anthony,

First, we recommend reviewing your system and verifying whether all currently enabled extensions are required for your environment. If, after this review, you determine that all of them are necessary, then you will need to upgrade to the 24SC license, which is the appropriate key size for your setup.

You can currently take advantage of our 25% discount on upgrades (Valid until 30 June). The upgrade will also align your license with our current Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

In addition, you can renew your license now and add 365 days to your existing validity. For example, if your current key expires in September 2026, renewing now will extend it until September 2027.

Please contact our CSR team if you would like assistance with the upgrade or renewal process.

Hi Alphabetic,

While a renewal may technically complete, customers should not rely on this as a way to operate outside the Fair Usage Policy (FUP). We recommend reviewing the deployment and ensuring the license size correctly reflects actual usage.

If the current number of users and extensions is required, then upgrading to the appropriate license tier is the recommended approach. Customers can also take advantage of the current 25% upgrade discount, available until 30 June.

Hello @GabrielaS_3CX , Thank you for your response.

If we renew the 16SC license, what will be the impact on the 19 excess extensions?

Kindly clarify the following points:
  1. Will the system automatically disable 19 accounts, and is the selection criteria random?
  2. Will the affected users still have login access to the system?
  3. Will they retain the ability to initiate or receive calls?

The excess 19 users/extensions hold manager roles and are non-SC users who do not make inbound or outbound calls. How will the system handle these excess 19 extensions? What will be the impact on the 19 excess extensions?

you need to read between the lines here mate.

You need a license to match your users and this is the top and bottom of it.

Eventually 3CX will come down on this and you will be hard capped.

act now, save the trouble later.

My renewal on the over deployment, all my extensions are currently live and active with a license warning.

Hi Anthony,

The 19 manager extensions are standard user extensions and are counted toward the licensing ratio. As such, the deployment should be aligned with the applicable FUP by upgrading from 16SC to 24SC.

Hello @GabrielaS_3CX ,

We have already processed the renewal for this account. Furthermore, our management has decided to upgrade our license from 16SC to 24SC.
