Can I use the SBC to provisioning SIP Trunks in Branch offices?

Hi ,

I have a 3CX solution in private cloud, I have site to site vpns connected to my customer's HQ and Branch Offices. The sip trunks provider is Americanet with TLS via Internet. My customer request to switching the provider to new one ( Vivo/Telefonica) signlinng is SIP, they deliver a router to his office to interconnect with the PBX.

I don't have a local gateway, I wonder if by provisioning an SBC locally with vmware can I configure the SIP trunk directly to use (outbound and inbound calls)?

3CX SBC is used for the remote sip phones, not for registering the SIP Trunk. If you are talking about third-party SBC like AudioCodes, then I think the answer is yes.

It's as 58voip said, if you're referring to the 3CX SBC then the answer is no, it can only be used for connecting remote IP Phones and some 3CX Supported FXS gateways.

I'm not sure if you could work around this by utilizing your current site-to-site VPN implementation though things like latency/delay would have to be taken into consideration if going down this route.

The ideal configuration and what we would actually recommend is to have the SIP Provider's CPE on the same site as the 3CX PBX.

Thank you to share this information.

I thought so, but a more experienced colleague had commented that he had done something similar, but did not confirm which SBC virtual he used to manage the connections in the CPE and route to the 3CX.

I looked into another alternative, and found a local manufacturer here that has a gateway for this.


I believe that it will work.
I'll see if I can see a better price with them. The cost would be $783.15
