Hoping someone can help me with this, I simply want to change the DID in my Route Calls to > Main Trunk Number. When I change main trunk number it actually changes the current inbound rule associated with the OLD Number. Yet I have created an inbound rule for the new did.

Old Number: XXXXXXX1234
New Number: XXXXXXX5678

I added the new DID - XXXXXXX5678
Created inbound rule for the DID to an extension say 100
Went into Trunk General and changed Main Trunk No to XXXXXXX5678

Then the old Inbound rule has also been changed from the OLD to New so now there is no rule for XXXXXXX1234, I then try create a new inbound rule for XXXXXXX1234 and 3CX throws an error like I have duplicated.

Any ideas?

Check what you have configured under SIP Trunk config "Main trunk no"

And you did this because.....you are trying to change the outgoing caller ID? Are you simply attempting to create a second rule, to route a DID number to the same extension? Or, is there something else going on?

Yes I am trying to change the main trunk number. The problem is this number is a main number to one of our Branches, when I set Office hours on it in inbound rules, it makes it global at the trunk which we dont want as each Branch has different hours.

So I simply want to put another DID there. But it doesnt work. I change it, it changes the inbound rule, which is fine, but when i try to create a new inbound rule for the replaced number I get errors like its duplicated or something.

The magic all happens in inbound rules, main trunk number or not.

trunk > dids tab > add did.

goto inbound rules, make new rules for new did, or edit old rules for other did. (if you have more than one trunk with the same dids you will have to make new rules for every did in every trunk)

Thanks @3cxnub . I only have one trunk. When I make the change do I need to restart the SIP Server?
When I try what you say it throws an error. Ill record it tonight if I get the error when I try again tonight.

I did add the DID, I have both listed.

As you suggest - I am thinking I will change the main trunk number, which auto changes current inbound rule, then add a new inbound rule for OLD number and hopefully no error.

Well it would not work that method simply changing it (see below), kept giving error - Duplictate entry when I went to add OLD DID back into the inbound rules.

I spoke to my reseller and he said simply change the actual DID, which we did, fixed. Added the OLD number as a DID - Total Solution. Then I could add office hours, IVR etc to that number and not affect every other number. Was my mistake adding it in the first place a couple of years ago.

As I found out if you create an Inbound rule using the main trunk number then the two are connected. If you do a change under the main trunk number then the Inbound rule is also affected and vice versa.

This was the issue I faced, when I changed say Office hours on the Inbound rule, it would apply at trunk level which was caused grief with our other hundreds of Numbers.
