Hi,
I tried to sudo in my Linux pbxexpress in azure.
None of the passwords worked.
I ssh as user pbxexpress.
But the password does not work when I try to sudo or su.
Is it not allowed?
Am I using the wrong password?
Thanks in advance!

Hi StefanW,
I am able to ssh into the azure vm but cannot get root rights using sudo or su.
I do not see a reference to su or sudo in point 7.
Am I not seeing something?
Thanks!

sudo -i (with the same password) does not do the trick?

The procedure should look something like the following. The password should be the same as the one used for the management console which was generated by PBX Express.

Thank you Stefan and Yiannis,

Both "sudo -i" and "sudo su" elevate me to root.
I had already used "su" on the 3CXSBC debian 9 box and that worked, so I was expecting similar on pbxexpress box. I am new to debian, raised on OpenBSD and flirt with CentOS and Suse.

Interesting note: "groups" does not show pbxexpress in sudo. Must be the way the account is configured?

Thanks again for you time and assistance.
