I use a Cisco IP phone with 2 extensions registered on my 3CX server:
10: VoIP line registered with CallCentric
20: Skype line registered with my Skype user ID ('myskypeID')
Line 10 works perfectly, both for incoming and outgoing calls. Calling Skype IDs using the Skype gateway works perfectly as well, with this approach:
- I dial Skype IDs from my Cisco phone using a directory
- Each Skype ID in my directory has a prefix of "#", followed by the actual Skype User ID
- I have an outbound rule that sends all 'numbers' starting with "#" to the Skype route, after first stripping the "#".
My problem starts when I try to forward calls received on extension 10 to my personal Skype ID. I don't want to forward calls to extension 20, because then it rings on my local Cisco phone only. I want the call to be forwarded to Skype itself, so that it rings in any Skype client I have open anywhere. I created a "Simple" forward rule on extension 10:
- Forward ALL calls to external number #myskypeID
But this fails saying that the number is unavailable. What am I missing? The log says:
