Hi Guys,

Is me installing tshark on the debian install going to interfere with the 3CX capture capabilities from the mgmt console?

I want to enable a long capture creating incremental files (tshark -i any -b filesize:10240 -w /home/wireshark/mine.pcap) to try and capture an issue which isnt easily replicated.

thanks.

Hello,

This should not be an issue, the PBX uses a different library when it runs a capture (via tcpdump) so you can go ahead with tshark independently.

We use TShark all the time alongside 3CX without any issues. The other captures we use outside of the management console are direct PCAP inbuilt on the phones (yealink) or mirror-port on a switch to a machine running Wireshark.

I do find the management console the best as it captures traffic from the end-point and the trunking provider (in scenarios of external calling in/outbound). It is a pain that you can only run the capture from the management console for short bursts of time, however understandable especially for larger systems.
