Hi.

We are currently in the process of going from latest v15.5 to latest v16 but currently all our 3CX are v15.5.

One instance is using the ability of creating CDR records for every call. The build-in 3CX log has the correct timestamp, the equivalent CDR entry shows a wrong time: (now) - 2 hrs.

Is there anything I can do to override the timezone for CDR exports or is this somewhere documented?

Best regards,

Christian

Hi @cwoller

The CDR information output is in UTC time always regardless of server timezone / settings. The reports and logs automatically compensate for the time difference and will present to you the results in the server time.

This is not something that can be changed so you will need to compensate for the time difference of the CDR output

Hi JohnS_3CX.

Thank you for confirmation :) Now I can change my report scripts that dump the CDRs to my database to get the correct time.

By the way - is this somewhere documented?

I just wondering why 3CX logs are in sync with local time and CDR aren't...

It simply doesn't make sense to me and it isn't the way I would expect this to work.

Regards, Christian

The management console is aware of this, so the call logs and reports compensate according to your timezone. CDRs however, are raw data and run in UTC just like the core of the PBX, which also keeps UTC records internally but compensates according to your timezone when displaying information across the system

Ok, when understanding correctly, v16 behave exactly the same, right?

And another thing: When I remember correctly, I read somewhere that v16 can write CDR directly to an external database (eg. MySQL). Is it possible? Can v16 write CDR directly to DB instead of going through external text files?

Yes, V16 also uses UTC for the CDR

As for the external database, the PBX does not write to it.
The external database can read from the PBX CDRs https://www.3cx.com/docs/cdr-call-data-records/
You can set the CDR to run as a server, at a specific port like so:

Thank you.

I will switch to new hardware and do the update to v16 this weekend. After success, I'll try to get the CDR server up and running.

Have a nice weekend.

Regards,

Christian

You're welcome Christian, glad to help
